Mark Plays…. Ridge Racer 6 (Xbox360) PC Recomp 0.1.5

#Ridgeracer6 #xbox #recompilation

Ridge Racer 6 was originally released by Namco in 2005 as an Xbox 360 launch title. The first home console other than a Sony one to receive a game of the main series with its high-speed arcade racing, quite Japanese drifting mechanics, Ridge city and fitting soundtrack (I like the compositions a lot). On the Xbox360 this was a smooth 60 frames per second game.

Thanks to the unofficial Ridge Racer 6 PC Recompilation 0.1.5, developed by Sirhalo23, this Xbox 360 exclusive can run natively on Windows PCs without conventional console emulation. Using the ReXGlue SDK, the project translates the original Xbox 360 PowerPC code into C++, introducing modern enhancements including rendering resolutions up to four times the original 720p, 21:9 ultrawide support, improved texture filtering, configurable controls, controller compatibility and local achievement tracking.
Version 0.1.5 also introduces six selectable languages, improved downloadable-content handling and performance monitoring.

With it being 0.1.5 it’s still an experimental release with some framerate and speed inconsistencies and compatibility limitations and no online multiplayer.

In this video I try the PC port, then check out the game on the Xenia Xbox 360 Emulator and as a BONUS show a bit of the ultrawide capture I tried.
