The PaRappa Lyric they didn’t fix for 20 years!

Ever wonder why PaRappa the Rapper has some of the weirdest lyrics in gaming history? It wasn’t just a quirky stylistic choice—it was a translation nightmare! 🤯🎤

Back in the PS1 days, translator and voice actor Ryu Watabe was given one strict rule when bringing the Japanese lyrics to English: make sure every end line rhymes perfectly. Because Japanese rap didn’t traditionally rely on that same rhyming structure back then, Watabe had to get creative. This led to some incredibly basic rhymes and one massive mistake during the Prince Fleaswallow rap, where he accidentally claimed he had been working at the flea market since his mama was a baby! 🐸

It actually took Sony over 20 years to officially correct this hilarious lyric at a 2018 game symphony concert in Japan.
