My Most Disappointing Console

The Xbox Series X was supposed to be the start of something huge. Master Chief was literally on the back of the box with “POWER YOUR DREAMS” stamped across it, and Halo Infinite was positioned as the big return — the moment Xbox would reclaim its identity. Instead, we got a mid, uneven Halo experience that set the tone for a generation that never quite arrived.
In this video, I break down why the Series X has been such a disappointment for me. Not because the hardware is bad — it’s actually fantastic — but because the games never matched the promise. For years we kept calling it “next gen,” mostly because it never truly felt like current gen. Sure, we got Forza Horizon 5, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and Starfield, but none of them became the defining, era‑shaping titles the console desperately needed.
I also dive into:
• The long, quiet droughts between major releases
• Studio acquisitions that still haven’t delivered the big wave of exclusives
• Xbox’s ongoing identity crisis
• How Game Pass, while great, shifted focus away from flagship experiences
• Why the Series X feels like powerful hardware waiting for the software to catch up
This isn’t a hate video — it’s a look at a generation full of potential that never quite found its moment. I wanted to love this console. I still want to. But after years of waiting for that spark, it’s hard not to feel let down.
If you’ve felt the same way about the Series X, or if you think I’m completely off the mark, drop a comment. I’d love to hear your experience.
