Why You NEVER Played the Family Guy GameCube Port!
DJ Slopes
In 2006, 2K Games released the very first Family Guy video game. The developers desperately tried to keep the game’s age rating down to a “Teen” by using a fourth-wall-breaking gag where Brian the dog disguises himself as a cheerleader and stops himself from spelling out the F-word.
But the joke completely backfired. The ESRB ignored the gag and slapped the game with a Mature rating anyway (or a 15 here in the UK). This sudden jump to an M-rating is likely the exact reason why the game’s release schedule mysteriously fell apart.
Ports were officially in the works for the GameCube, Nintendo DS, and Game Boy Advance—with the GameCube version even getting a live store listing at Best Buy. But out of nowhere, all three Nintendo versions were completely scrapped. Because let’s be honest, there was absolutely no way Nintendo was letting Brian drop the F-bomb on the Game Boy Advance!
