SEGA’s “Slow Motion” Controller Was a MASSIVE Scam!
DJ Slopes
Remember when old-school controllers bragged about having a “Slow Motion” feature? Yeah, it was absolute garbage.
Instead of actual slow-mo, these controllers literally just spammed the Start button to rapidly pause and unpause the game over and over. Trying to play a fast-paced game like Sonic the Hedgehog with this turned on meant your jump inputs only registered half the time, practically guaranteeing you’d fall straight down an endless pit. It even caused weird, annoying brightness glitches on games like Fantastic Dizzy.
It made playing completely unplayable, yet somehow, this terrible gimmick was eventually released officially by SEGA themselves towards the end of the console’s life!
Did you ever fall for this hardware scam back in the 90s? Let me know in the comments!
