As you all know, May 18, 2011 was the most saddening day of my life when my older brother, Tim, had taken his life. It’s been the most difficult event I had ever gone through.
I want to do something special this year to honor not only his memory but for those who have lost someone they love to suicide.
On May 18 at 12 Noon CT, I will be on Twitch to livestream for 24 hours straight for charity. Announcing the “Brothers In Arms Charity Livestream” raising money for the Center for Suicide Awareness. Yep, I’m playing video games for 24 HOURS!
There will be a raffle throughout the livestream where cool things will be given away. For every $5 you donate, you are granted an entry to receive these cool things.
The goal is to get to at least $500. I’m sure raffles are one thing… but, what about hitting milestones? Yes, there will be milestones! Once these have been hit, certain actions will be performed.
Plus, you will be a part of this. You will help decide what games will be played. These decisions will be made once certain milestones are hit.
It’s still pretty early and I’m working out all of the details and getting everything ready. This is going to be a day for smiles and joy. This is going to be a day for love. This is going to be a day for strength and encouragement.
Remember, if you or someone you know is going through something so great and the overwhelming feeling of sadness or helplessness encapsulates, you are not alone. Talk to someone. Reach out. And, more importantly, stay strong.
